Franklin County Fair Re-cycling

 Dates: September 10-13, 2015

Volunteers needed from September 9-16, various shifts available

Volunteers will:

  • get into the Fair for free;

  • get a free T-shirt;

  • collect recyclables and compostables from designated bins;

  • sort and process materials (training provided);

  • monitor compost bins;

  • have fun at the fair while protecting our environment!

At the 2014 Fair we recycled and composted almost 4 tons of bottles, cans, containers, and food and paper waste, that otherwise would have gone to a landfill! Thank you 2014 volunteers!!!

How it works: Volunteers enter the fair for free on the day they volunteer and can enjoy the fair before or after their 4-hour shift and during their shift break. Volunteers must be confirmed before the event: anyone who shows up without prior confirmation will have to pay to enter the fair. Deadline to sign up: Wed 9/9, 5 pm.

Volunteers also needed for set up and breakdown before and after the Fair, on Wed. Sept. 9th, Thurs Sept. 10th, and especially on Monday Sept. 14th (also 9/15, 9/16).  If you volunteer when the Fair is closed, you can attend the Fair for free another day.

Source to Sea Cleanup will be on Friday & Saturday, September 25 & 26, 2015

Groups and individuals can participate in 2 ways.

1)      Groups can find a local cleanup site that is accepting “walk up” volunteers on our website in September. It is as easy as finding a pin on a map! Just look for the “Join A Group” button or

2)      Register with us as a Group: Please register so that we can be in touch to help, get you cleanup supplies, tee-shirts, etc.  You can register at the beginning of the school year as well but will not be eligible for supplies and tee-shirts at that time. You can choose whether or not you would like for your group to be “public” (others can join you) or “private” (only your organization or group members will be part of your team).

You register now online at

http://www.ctriver.org/projects/source-to-sea-cleanup/register-a-group/

Remember, if you have a number of kids wanting t-shirts, register your group online now.

Let me know if you have any other friends who would like to form a school group.  Thanks.
